CONTROVERSIAL FIGURES: Kenny Kunene and Khanyi Mbau.

WITH the news out that controversial businessman Kenny Kunene's show, So What, is back on TV , it will be interesting to see how the show will do this time around, given that his Zar nightclub has closed down.

Yes, the last time the show was on e.tv, much of it centred on Zar. But now the upmarket nightclub that was situated in the heart of Sandton is gone, reduced to a travelling concept that is yet to take off.

With the fanfare associated with Zar gone, can the show stand on its own merit?

This question will probably be on the minds of TV fans as they watch So What 2 on e.tv in the new Monday slot. Previously the show aired on Saturdays.

So What 2 premiers tonight at 8.30pm.

But, the producers are upbeat: "So What 2 promises more drama, more luxury and social awareness with an inevitable dash of controversy.

Kunene has become an icon - unapologetic for his success and opulent lifestyle.

"Viewers are once again taken on a journey that started from poverty to the extravagance Kenny surrounds himself with.

"Fast cars, beautiful women, exotic destinations the contrast between his current position and that of his past makes the show more than just a catalogue of bling. It makes a fascinating rags-to riches story that brings with it a series of conflicts between classes, cultures and good old-fashion values," the producers add.

With rumours doing the rounds that Kunene is broke and that is why the club closed down, this is probably the time to prove that he still has wealth.

The question is, will he do that?

Monde Twala, e.tv's channel head says: "We are excited about the return of So What. The show is about controversy, glitz and glamour.

"Viewers must brace themselves, tabloid entertainment is back. Viewers will go deeper into the life of Kunene, the truth to this self-made millionaire and his team.

"In So What 2, Kenny gives viewers more insight into his business dealings, travels, and of course, his opulent lifestyle."
