VERY WITTY: Chris Forrest kicks off Tshwane Comedy Night.

SOUTH Africa's stand-up comedian Chris Forrest kicks off the new season of Tshwane Comedy Night with another superb performance.

The event, at the State Theatre in Pretoria, starts with a one-man show concept.

Known for his witty and cynical one-line humour, Forrest will keep you in stitches on March 17.

Having been at the forefront of the South African comedy scene for almost 10 years now, his unique dry humour has made him one of the country's most popular comedians. He has appeared in the Pure Monate Show and numerous successful advertising campaigns. Forrest has also performed at the Edinburgh Festival in the UK in 2003 and 2005.

After Forrest's acclaimed one-man show, the Young Guns of South African Comedy night will be hosted at the same venue.

The show will feature comedians Lihle Lindzy, Chris Mapane, Lwando Mahlakatha and Jay Boogie on March 31.

With her free-flowing style, Lindzy's success as a comedienne has quickly broadened into a range of performances at clubs and festivals around Johannesburg.

Mapane, the energetic comedian on stage, started doing stand-up comedy at Wits University. He later shared the stage with established comedians such as David Kau, Barry Hilton and John Vlismas.

Mahlakatha is one of the best impersonators of renowned politicians and musicians.

Jay Boogie started as an MC for music shows at a restaurant in Soweto before presenting a music show on Soweto TV. Now he is establishing himself as a comedian.

Tickets cost R60.
