Singer on path of musical rediscovery
SINGER Tamara Dey, who burst into the limelight in 2000, will lead a group of top female singers at the fourth Raunchy Rock and Melodic Extravaganza Concert on Saturday.
The event is at Carnival City's Big Top Arena in Brakpan.
The extravaganza features some of the best local Afrikaans and English rock and pop talent, among them Karen Zoid, Cortina Whiplash, The Arrows, Aneva and Louise Carver.
"I am looking forward to being part of the show for the second time. Looking at the line-up, the event will be bigger and better this year," Dey said.
Dey, who became famous after collaborating with kwaito group Brothers of Peace, said she has grown since then. Together with Brothers of Peace, Dey produced chart-topping song Thathi Mpahlakho, that launched her musically.
She said she is not the same girl who came into the industry years ago.
"I am rediscovering myself in terms of music," Dey said. "I am trying to find out who I am. I want also to focus on my solo album, but I am not pressurising myself."
Dey's real name is Nathalie Atzeni. Though she has changed her sound, she said she will always love dance music.
She says after her collaboration with Brothers of Peace (Oscar Oskido Mdlongwa and Bruce Dope Sebitlo) she "experimented a lot", until she met the group Flash Republic, with whom she has been touring the world.
