Italian passion for pizza is centuries old

THE word "pizza" is thought to have come from the Latin word pinsa, which means flat bread, however, there has been much debate about the origin of the word.

They seem to have been around for quite some time - a recent archeological discovery has found a preserved Bronze Age pizza.

In the Middle Ages, peasants would use the ingredients they could get hold of to create a pizza similar to the ones we enjoy today.
