Weird-looking creature

THE gulper eel is a seriously strange creature - and is known for its huge pelican-like mouth.

Compared with its body, the eel's mouth is so big that it can swallow creatures bigger than itself.

However, its diet consists mostly of small crustaceans, though there are documented reports of them eating squids twice their size.

The fish is found in all tropical seas at depths ranging from 900m to 8000m.
