IN a unique performance, music lovers will witness married musical couples sharing the stage at the Pretoria State Theatre on Saturday, all in the name of love.

Titled Love and Music Concert, it will feature some of the most interesting couples plying their trade on the contemporary music scene in the country. And it comes during a month when the subject of love is well and truly under the spotlight due to St Valentine's celebrations.

February marks the month of love, as it is customary for lovers and couples to re-affirm their love for each other, through gifts and dinners.

And music has always gone hand in hand with love.

Think of a couple's first kiss or first meeting and a song they danced to, the song that played on their wedding day and songs that are of sentimental value to relationships.

Love and Music Concert aims to bridge the gap between the music of this generation and that of the now esteemed SA classics of Letta Mbulu and Caiphus Semenya, Joy and some international classics.

The artists will also render some of their own songs that fans know and love.

"Music has almost always been synonymous with Love. Love and Music Concert showcases young couples who met through music and are currently making waves in the industry as business people, performers and as all-round entrepreneurs," Swazi Dlamini, one of the organisers who will also perform with her husband, Tshepo Mngoma, said.

The Love and Music Concert features Dlamini and Mngoma, multi-award winners themselves.

Then there are Nqubeko Mbatha and Ntokozo Mbambo, who are part of the mega music ensemble Joyous Celebration; Bongi and Collin are a highly talented duo on the vocals of the renowned Jaziel Brothers.

Finally, Thabo and Nonhlanhla Mdluli, of Love Worship Experience album released in 2011, are no strangers to the music industry too.

The duo, who are also former Joyous Celebration and Family Factory members, with a host of albums to their names, will also be appearing at the festival.
