Connect with the universe with Spirit Sundae

THOSE who wake up early every Sunday to go to church are missing a lot - especially on television.

Please don't bite my head off on this one. I am not, repeat not, saying don't go to church. After a long week I decided on Sunday to take a break from church and stay at home.

While searching for a TV channel to watch I came across this very interesting show that I had almost forgotten about - Spirit Sundae.

A religious magazine show presented by vibey Mzwandile Ngubeni and Nathi Buzani airs every Sunday on SABC1 at 10am.

The show features celebrities, ranging from musicians and radio and television personalities to actors.

Afro-soul singer Camagwini and talent scout Lindelani Mkhize of Joyous Celebration were among the guests featured in the episode I watched.

Camagwini, who is an initiated sangoma, spoke about balancing the two worlds (ancestors and Christianity).

The show reflects the broad spectrum of faith in South Africa, from Christianity to African Traditional, in a light-hearted tone and manner.

Most of the guests who are invited speak about their successes and bring in their own personal spirituality, allowing viewers to see a side of them not often portrayed in the media.

The show also features a weekly chats centre on social issues and encourages interfaith dialogue, tolerance and understanding.
