SEASONED jazz trombonist and award-winning composer Jonas Gwangwa sang and blew up a storm on Friday night performing at the Silver Star Casino in Krugersdorp, Johannesburg.

With experience spanning over 50 years, Gwangwa was performing as part of the Road to Joy of Jazz Concerts that are hosted monthly as a build-up to one of the biggest music gigs in August.

The veteran muso blew his horn with passion, captivating music lovers. With the audience dancing to his sounds Gwangwa proved that he is one of the country's favourite jazz musicians.

The matured singer exuded experience and wisdom of a musician who had seen it all. He opened his set with one of his all-time favourite songs, Flowers of the Nation.

He then took the crowd down memory lane with tracks such as Kukude Lapho Sivela Khona, Batsumi and Temporary Inconvenience. He wrapped up the show with Morwa and Kgomo, which got the crowd off their chairs.

Gwangwa shared the stage with Noxolo and Zonke, who opened for the jazzman and dazzled the crowd. The Road to Joy of Jazz is supported by Sowetan and Sunday World.
