Nonhle show 'pathetic and fake reality'

NONHLE Thema's fans have fallen out of love with her. Thema, who had a huge following and record-breaking ratings in her previous shows on DStv, has become a laughing stock on social networks.

This after her show, Nonhle Goes to Hollywood, did not live up to expectations. The show, launched last month in a blaze of publicity, has had Twitter followers poking fun at her since she announced that the final instalment would be broadcast tomorrow.

The show enjoyed mixed reviews from the beginning, with some fans calling it "the worst mistake Vuzu has ever made".

After the first episode, Just Curious, a popular entertainment blog wrote: "Watching the show was more like watching Mzansi Stories on e.tv than a reality show.

Another popular blogger, Farai, of Farai Today, wrote: "Dear Nonhle: We love the concept and vision behind your show but please go back to the drawing board. You have been given a great opportunity to do something with your 'reality show', use the platform before someone else is given the opportunity. I thank you!!!"

In one episode Thema attracted a lot of flak when she appeared "crying" with dry eyes.

One annoyed fan tweeted: "Death by Nonhle Thema's fake crying and being so unbelievably dramatic. It's sounnecessary."

But things blew out of control last week after Thema tweeted that she was excited about the finale and asked her followers how they felt.

Big mistake, because they came down on her like a ton of bricks. They told her how annoying her show was.

"This show is terrible. Wow epics sail. Thank God it's done," tweeted one fan. Another tweet read: "For a show that is scripted, it sure is pathetic. Scripted drama, fake reality."

Another one wrote: "Nonhle stop it, your mom is your only fan."

Thema lost it and told her critics that she was making money while they were hating.

M-Net spokesperson Sulungeka Ndlovu, who asked for our questions on the ratings and if the show would return for a second season, did not get back to us at the time of going to press.
