""We will go more theatrical, complete with dramatic elements and different costumes."

THERE is no doubt that leading choir Joyous Celebration has over the years created a special space for itself on the South African gospel music scene with the release of their albums.

But some fans felt the choir had somehow drifted from its original music when Joyous Celebration released new material appealing to new audiences. This, in a sense, alienated the choir from its old fans.

In a bid to make old fans happy the award-winning Joyous Celebration is hosting a special concert. It is called Rewind: A Celebration of Joyous Hits and will take place on November 5 and 6 at The Teatro at Montecasino in Fourways, Gauteng.

Joining the MTN Joyous Celebration on this retrospective weekend will be former members of the ensemble who contributed to the groups' success.

These are Innocent Modiba, the husband and wife "Love Worship" duo, Nonhlanhla and Thabo Mdluli, and new jazz artist Asanda Bam.

Group' co-founder Lindelani Mkhize says: "We are going to take our fans back in time with hits from Joyous 1 right up to Joyous 15. These will be presented in a unique manner without losing the joyous essence that has made Joyous the iconic brand it is today."

Mkhize says there will be music, sport, films, food and incredible gaming opportunities at the MTN Ayoba Festival.

"We plan to incorporate our signature presentation and production style, in addition to a number of new elements that distinguish it from a typical Joyous show," Mkhize says.

"We will go more theatrical, complete with dramatic elements and different costumes. The reintroduction of dancers and new choreography are some of the unique features that will make these shows especially memorable."
