R.I.P. Louise, from 'Sgudi 'Snaysi

ACTRESS Gloria Mudau - who played Louise in the popular 1990s comedy 'Sgudi 'Snaysi - has passed away. She was 84

Mudau died at about 6pm yesterday at her daughter Muofhe Thema's Alberton home, east of Johannesburg.

Thema said her late mother had been battling "heart problems" which made her a regular at Union Hospital in Alberton.

"She was sick ... constantly in and out of hospital. Lately, she was quite weak. She had heart problems."

Mudau shot to fame as Louise, the lovable but strict old lady in 'Sgudi 'Snaysi.

However, her daughter said Mudau was nothing like the character she made famous.

"A lot of people who knew her say she was reserved. They were surprised to hear she was an actress."

Thema asked fans to remember her mother as a "humorous person" who was as fond of people as they were of her.

The family has not yet made funeral arrangements.
