Beauty queen is Miss SA judge

FORMER Miss South Africa Joan Ramagoshi will once again be part of the pageant, but this time as a judge.

Ramagoshi will be among the six judges who will crown Miss South Africa 2011 at Sun City on December 11 during a live one and half hour broadcast on Mzanzi Magic DStv channel 107. Miss South Africa Teen will be on December 10.

"As a former Miss South Africa and businesswoman, Ramagoshi brings to the pageant a wealth of experience and expertise.

"She is dynamic and a true role model for the girls. We feel her presence will be of great value," Wendy Futcher of the Miss South Africa said.

Ramagoshi, who won the competition in 2003, said she was delighted to be on the panel.

"It's a great opportunity for me to judge this year. Through my experience as Miss SA, Miss City Press and through organising Miss Mamelodi Sundowns, I know that beauty is important but personality and intellect are important personality traits," she said.

The judging process has already started with the forms and regional judging complete.

Those selected from this process will attend an intensive, interactive four-day workshop at Sun City next month. The workshops include lessons in deportment and etiquette, brand management, financial skills, media training and general life skills.

The finalists will be a group of passionate young women driven by their belief that they have a role to play in tackling some of the tougher social challenges in South Africa.

Ramagoshi's advice to the ladies is, "first impression lasts. You only have one opportunity to impress the judges".

The winner represents the country internationally and locally, and plays an important role in various Sun International corporate social Investment projects.
