DJ Cleo's sound problem 'sabotage'

MZANSI'S music producer extraordinaire, DJ Cleo, has accused popular music promoter and business tycoon Bruce Kgapane of waging a personal vendetta against him.

Cleo, born Tlou Monyepao, accused Kgapane of using the animosity between them to sabotage his music shows.

The tirade came after Kgapane's sound engineers allegedly intermittently tampered with the sound system while he was performing during the inauguration ceremony of Mopani executive mayor Joshua Matlou in Bolobedu outside Tzaneen on Saturday.

This resulted in Cleo being taken off the stage on more than two occasions. Matters came to a head when his hit, The Sky is the Limit, was cut short, leaving the crowd jeering with disappointment.

Visibly frustrated, Cleo blitzed backstage to investigate the problem and started another song, which was also interrupted.

"Kgapane and his wife have a personal vendetta against me. They have now sabotaged my performances and unexpectedly cut me twice in the same months while performing on stage," said Cleo soon after the performance.

Kgapane branded Cleo's claims as far-fetched.

"I have nothing personal against Cleo. How can I have a vendetta against him when I am the man behind his success? I have gone out to organise performances at government functions in Limpopo and elsewhere for him."

Kgapane said the reason Cleo's performances were cut short could have been because he was using a back-up generator for his stage work.

"I am in close communication with my sound engineers," Kgapane said.
