There is no doubt that champagne corks should be popping for MTVBase who are rolling out with the best. Otherwise how do you explain the phenomenal feat of DStv Compact achieving the milestone of 3million MTV Base subscribers on the channel.

In the ensuing excitement most people insist that DStv Compact and DStv are taking over Hush. So are you surprised that to coincide with the ultimate anniversary, the two are throwing the mother of all parties on Friday.

Interestingly they see the battle of the music genres as hip-hop takes on house music in the ultimate face-off, featuring some of SA's most fantastic hip-hop veterans going head to head with the brightest star on the country's house music scene.

Leading the hip-hop heroes into the fray will be Tumi & the Volume, fresh from their European tour, and whose video Asinamali has been featuring prominently on the MTV playlist and on MTV Base's Spanking New, MTV Base's new music show that premieres a new music video every day of the week at 16.00 CAT. Sets from DJs Kenzhero, Vigilante and Switch will keep Hip Hop lovers asking for more.

House fans won't catch their shine with dance star-on-the-rise Zakes Bantwini. The uber-talented vocalist and dancer behind club bangers "Shake your Bum Bum" and "Clap Your Hands". Zakes has recently been highlighted as MTV Base's Brand: New artist for April 2011, as an indication that MTV Base thinks he is headed for the big time.

To celebrate the occasion, DStv will be giving away PVR decoders, that can be used by DStv Compact subscribers to record, rewind, pause live TV and fast-forward recorded programmes.
