Cheating boyfriend helped her win Popstars

Zinhle Dube, a member of the Popstars group Nne-Vida, says she would not have won the competition had she not dumped her cheating boyfriend.

Dube says she was so depressed and stressed when she found out while in the competition that her boyfriend was cheating on her.

She chose to put herself first by dumping him and concentrating on her music career and the competition.

Dube, of Cato Manor in Durban, is one of the four members who made it through to form this year’s Popstars group with Lyle Volkwyn, Lihle Ngongoma and Oscar Toorn.

The four have now become role models to the youth.

The group was in Durban at the weekend to celebrate their winning of the competition.

Ngongoma and Dube were part of the six Gagasi 99.5 FM contestants in the beginning.

Dube found out that her boyfriend of three months was cheating on her.

“I dumped him and I do not regret it at all. It was a blessing in disguise because after that I felt so free and happy that I had put myself first and before anyone else,” Dube said yesterday.

Dube said her story should inspire other young people to understand that relationships should not affect their future plans and opportunities.
