Don't miss beach parties

EVER fancied basking on a tropical beach when you could hardly afford to fly to a tropical island?

Well, the beach has been brought to Rustenburg at the City Jive Café this Saturday. Just ask for the Evolution Beach Party.

The organisers have secured some of the country's best disc spinners, so get ready to be rocked .

Beach parties are the in thing these days. Venues are dressed up with beach sand to allow party goers to experience what folk living in coastal areas enjoy on a daily basis.

City Jive Café, which has hosted many parties, will this weekend be turned into a beach and some of the country's top musicians will enthrall the crowd .

The venue is home to Rustenburg's night life. It has hosted World Cup after-parties, Sama pre-parties and Spring Day parties.

"Think bikinis, sun, fun and great music. Take everything you know about a beach party and let your imagination run wild," organiser Nthabiseng Masike said.

"The lineup includes Ntombi Ngcobo, internationally renowned DJ Abicah Soul from the US, local legends Christos, Vinny da Vinci and Mahoota vs Vetkuk."

He said the venue had all the ingredients of a classic café lounge: memorable tunes, divine cocktails, an immaculate indoor lounge area, handcrafted pine outdoor furniture and the ambiance of a tropical paradise.

Tickets cost R100 and are available at the door, but if you prefer the VIP area, you will have to pop out R250, which will include a meal.

A few hundred kilometres away, in Polokwane, another lodge will be transformed into a beach. The Limpopo capital might be far from the ocean, but come November 6 and revellers will enjoy a true beach experience.

On that weekend the Thandabantu Lodge, near the Polokwane Showground, will resemble a coastal town where roisterers will be treated to many genres of music.

The crème de la crème of house music and hip-hop are set to dazzle when they take to the stage.

The hottest house outfit at the moment, Big Nuz, will be there. The group bagged the Song of the Year award at the South African Music Awards .

Also in the lineup is Teargas, who were rewarded for their hard work at the Samas as Best Hip-hop Album for two consecutive years.

Durban duo L'vovo Derango and DJ Tira as well as hot DJ Black Coffee will perform. Other big shots to grace the event are Setswana rappers JR and Tuks Senganga, Shimza, Kent and Khumza.
