Shedding 'crocodile tears' to attract prey

CROCODILES can sound like a crying baby, which is a way of attracting human prey.

They also cry in another way: They lie motionless in the sun with their mouths wide open, but this position puts pressure on their tear glands, and they start to "cry".

These are not tears of sadness, which is the origin of the expression "crocodile tears".

When a person sheds tears without any real contrition or sadness, they are crying crocodile tears.
