Adopt a needy family in the spirit of ubuntu

AS A winning developing nation we need to take care of one another in the spirit of ubuntu. Little things count in life. Taking care of our poor, old and vulnerable children will make a huge difference to our nation.

We need not be millionaires. We only need to be selfless, caring, loving and human.

Today, let's take an oath that we will share the little we have with the needy.

One or more families in our streets need us. Let's adopt them and share our meals daily.

Share the clothes in our garages, wardrobes - and in the steel boxes in our yards - that we no longer need.

By doing so a better life for all will be realised and our nation will prosper.

We eat and drink well while some in our society go to sleep without a meal.

In the past we would go to our neighbours to ask for sugar, salt, mealie meal an do on without fearing a backlash.

Can we do that today?

In the spirit of ubuntu, I pledge to help the needy and be the voice of reason that will bring hope in their lives. I will desist from demonising successful people and saying their accumulated wealth comes from criminal activities.

Embrace one another irrespective of financial standing. By doing this, we will build a caring nation and many lives will be spared, since of late, suicide has become the answer to our suffering.

Our government cannot do it alone and we need to take an active part in making a difference in our communities. Government grants are small and cannot sustain someone for a week. Adopt needy families, make a difference and build people's self-confidence.
