MINING production data released yesterday was "disappointing" and could affect the country's growth, economists said.
"The mining industry accounts for just under 10percent of gross domestic product, but the volatile nature of the industry's performance can impact on GDP growth," Nedbank economists Dennis Dykes and Johannes Khosa said.
Earlier, Statistics SA announced mining output had fallen 4,9percent year-on-year in June following a 7,6percent year-on-year drop in May.
