FORMER National Prosecuting Authority director Vusi Pikol has been appointed head of Gobodo Inc's forensics unit.

His appointment is effective from August 1 2010.

Gobodo's chief executive Nonkululeko Gobodo said Pikoli's appointment had come at an important time for the firm as it was expanding and strengthening its forensics unit.

Gobodo Incorporated is a firm of chartered accountants founded by black professionals in 1996.

"Good governance and transparency have become increasingly crucial in this era that has witnessed an increase in corporate fraud and corruption," Gobodo said.

Pikolii, pictured, said: "I am excited about the appointment, and I am looking forward to contributing meaningfully to the growth of Gobodo Inc."

Pikoli, who is an advocate, has been working in the legal field for more than 20 years.

In 2005, he was appointed national director of public prosecutions until his suspension in 2007 for refusing to stop the then impending arrest of former national police commissioner Jackie Selebi.
