Struggling Kaizer Chiefs fought back to earn a point after drawing 1-1 with Free State Stars at Moses Mabhida Stadium last night.

The draw means the pressure mounts on Chiefs mentor Steve Komphela. It still remains to be seen how long the Amakhosi coach can hold on to his job after another poor showing from his side.

Stars were first on the scoresheet when Nhlanhla Vilakazi's shot deflected off Daniel Cardoso in the 64th minute and was put down as an own goal. However, the Stars' lead was short-lived, with Bernard Parker leveling matters just four minutes later.

This was Chiefs' fourth straight draw in the league. The points dropped could count against them in the league race, while Stars will be pleased to have picked up a point away from home.

The result is pretty much a true reflection of what was witnessed at the Durban venue.

Siphiwe Tshabalala tried for the home side in the first half, but saw his shot go over the bar and, towards the break, Parker's header was inches wide.

The second half was better to watch perhaps because of the two goals in quick succession.

Before Stars scored, Amakhosi goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune had denied Sinethemba Jantjie from close range, but he could do nothing with Vilakazi's deflected attempt for the opener.

Parker then saved Chiefs' blushes after pulling one back, benefiting from a pass by Willard Katsande.
