Baroka have gone from fighting relegation last season to topping the standings. So what has changed?

Baroka have gone from fighting relegation last season to topping the standings. So what has changed?

Player signings

To their credit, the club's management did a good job in the transfer market by acquiring players such as Lewis Macha, Gift Motupa, Virgil Vries, Siphelele Ntshangase and Talent Chawapiwa.

Doc Khumalo influence

The presence of the legendary Doctor Khumalo has seemingly done wonders for the team. As technical director, his knowledge of the game has come in handy.

Consistent line-up

There's no chopping and changing in their line-up. The likes of Vries, Chawapiwa, Abdi Banda, Letladi Madubanya, Oleleng Shaku, Sipho Moeti and Mduduzi Mdantsane have kept their places in the team.

Keeper crisis solved

Oscarine Masuluke contributed to Baroka ending with the third-worst defence in the league last season, with 43 goals conceded in 30 matches. Vries is a welcome addition.

Same approach for home/away games

Baroka play to win, home or away. They have already beaten Chippa United, Bloemfontein Celtic and Kaizer Chiefs away.
