SuperSport United winger Thuso Phala has his sight set on making history with the Tshwane club by reaching three cup finals before the end of the year.

The Tshwane side have already sealed their final berth in the MTN8 and will be looking to do the same in the Telkom Knockout and the CAF Confederation Cup.

Phala is one of the few remaining players in the current squad who was there the last time the team competed in the African tournament in 2014.

SuperSport will square-off against Zambian giants Zesco United in the first leg quarterfinal of the competition at the Lucas Moripe Stadium tonight (7pm).

"This was the plan from the start. We are looking to reach those finals in the next two months. No other team will be able to say they have done what we did," Phala told Sowetan this week.

"It's one down and two more to go basically. Reaching the top eight final sets you up nicely for the rest of the season. And we saw what Wits did after winning the MTN8 and then the league last season."

Phala is also encouraged by the scoring form of lethal striker Jeremy Brockie, who was embroiled in a transfer showdown with the club two weeks ago.

Brockie had handed in a transfer request to Mamelodi Sundowns but SuperSport rejected it. The 31-year-old former Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs player believes Brockie will be key for Matsatsantsa in their African quest for African glory.

"For us it makes life a bit easier because there is always a chance that the goal will come. When he (Brockie) scores it puts pressure on all of us, it pushes us to contribute more in search of more goals.

"He has put that [transfer] behind him now and has continued to do the job for us because he is a professional.

"It's up to us to provide those assists to him and we know he is going to put them away."
