IT'S all hands on deck as South Africa's football brains knuckled down to chart the way for the new South African Football Association (Safa) executive committee.

Yesterday was the first meeting for the new national executive committee, led by president Danny Jordaan, after the elective congress held two weeks ago.

The executive finalised new committees, which included an international board, made up of Premier Soccer League and Safa officials.

"The appointment of this board will help us strengthen our international connection with the rest of the world," Jordaan said. "We have sent a delegation to engage Fifa and made applications to host the Under-20 World Cup and the women's World Cup in 2019. It is the duty of the board to get some of the countries to come and play against Bafana Bafana."

Jordaan would not be drawn on the future of Bafana coach Gordon Igesund, but did confirm the appointment of the Safa technical committee members. The committee will engage with national team coaches.

Three women - Nomsa Mahlangu, Ria Ledwaba and Anastasia Tsichlas - have been appointed to head committees.
