ERNIE Els has turned to vision guru Sherylle Calder to help him save his fading golf career.
The 42-year-old three-time world champion is hoping that work on his eyes will get him back into the world's top-50 golfers.
His biggest problem has been the inconsistency of his putting. Last year he was at his lowest ever at number 71, but he has since improved to number 65.
Calder, who has worked with the England and Springbok rugby teams, met Els at the recent Volvo Champions tournament in George and diagnosed that his eyes needed exercise to help him repair his short game.
"His eyes weren't fit enough for 18 holes of golf and that's why I have him in what we call the 'eye-gym'. Like any muscle the eyes need exercise," says Calder.
