Nineties nostalgia is just so.. nineties

MOVE ON: Wilson B Nkosi at the Metro FM party.
MOVE ON: Wilson B Nkosi at the Metro FM party.

DEAR Wilson B Nkosi, Shwa was happy to see that you are still alive and kicking, because let's face it: if it weren't for Sundays we'd be speaking of you in the past tense.

And just like your Romantic Repertoire radio show, which is understandably popular with lonely over-40 singles, you are still stuck in the 1990s.

When Shwa spotted you at the Metro FM birthday celebration, she thought you were a lost extra from Boyz N the Hood. I mean, what was up with that outfit?

Loose-fitting Sean John sports jersey, tracksuit pants. and were those Air Jordans? The turned-back cap was the final nail in your fashion coffin. My brother, you were a small fluffy towel away from being Speedy in the future! Or did you just step off a basketball court?

Shwa thought the days of black guys boosting their self-esteem by dressing and sounding "American" were long gone.

But you go on with your bad self, don't you? Just not in public. You'll embarrass the kids.

Psst. SA Fashion Week ended yesterday and local designers have some fresh threads that even you can appreciate. Just embrace the 21st century, honey.

XOXO
