Kwaito queen of dance Chomee has become the first woman on the board of premier music conference and exhibition, Moshito.
Chomee, real name Thulisile Madihlaba, accepted her new role as the South African Arts and Development Association (SAADA) board member on the Moshito music conference and exhibition.
Chomee, 33, said: "I am very honoured to be part of this great organisation that has been around for so many years and has also changed the lives of many artists both locally and internationally."
She said she plans to share the knowledge that she has acquired throughout her career in the entertainment industry with her colleagues on the board.
"I will try and advocate for females as well as young people in terms of bigger roles and more participation," said Chomee, who will serve a two-year term.
"I am interested to see how the issue of copyright legislation is going to be handled. I am also interested in issues of networking between local and international stakeholders, interaction of artists and the impact of the digital revolution in the industry."
Moshito chairperson Dr Sipho Sithole confirmed that Chomee joined other board members for the first time during a meeting on Tuesday.
The Moshito board comprises 14 organisations within the music industry and SAADA is run by 999 Music boss Arthur Mafokate, who nominated her to the board.
"We are happy that there is a female on the board, beacuse it's been male-dominated for too long.
"Chomee also has an in-depth knowledge of the music industry. She grew up in the industry," said Sithole.
