Kwaito king Arthur Mafokate has rejected an invite to attend the ANC Siyanqoba shindig with President Cyril Ramaphosa at Sandton Convention Centre on Thursday.

Mafokate, a staunch ANC supporter and the party's most well-known celebrity campaigner, sneezed at the call to rub shoulders with Ramaphosa after the party's big wigs publicly humiliated him earlier this year.

He also confirmed he wont attend the rally today.

The muso was dressed down after a picture he took with actress Nomzamo Mbatha during the ANC's election manifesto launch in Durban courted controversy. When the public accused Mbatha of taking an image with an alleged woman abuser, the ANC quickly defended Mbatha and rebuked Mafokate.

The Kaffir hitmaker's ex-girlfriend Busisiwe "Cici" Thwala has opened a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm at the Midrand police station. The matter is still before the courts.

In order to quell the outrage about the image, Zizi Kodwa, ANC head of presidency at Luthuli House, issued a statement that read in parts: "The African National Congress condemns the conduct of Arthur Mafokate at its manifesto launch rally on 12 January 2019 when he stormed the stage uninvited and caused undue mayhem.

While the ANC has worked with and supported Mafokate over many years, however, reports of his alleged abusive conduct towards a female accomplice go against the values and policies of the ANC which denounces gender-based violence. The party distances itself from Mafokate and apologises to Mbatha."

ANC head of elections Fikile Mbalula also tore into Mafokate, which led to the label boss apologising to Mbatha.

"To Nomzamo Mbatha, I profusely apologise that you have to go through all this. . I would like to urge my fellow South Africans to please not blame Nomzamo Mbatha for that. To me it was just a picture celebrating the woman of stature," he said.

Mafokate confirmed he turned down the invite.

"I'm a humble son of the ANC and will always be. Yes, I did not honour the invite because I was scared that I would be humiliated the same way I was early this year.

If I go to public events like the previous one, which they invited me and I attended, the expectations are that people would want to take pictures with me. And when I refuse I would be branded arrogant and condemned... if I do take pictures with people and those pictures are posted on social media, I would be humiliated by the same people and by my own party the same [way] they did after the Nomzamo picture...," he said.

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe said the ANC wanted to extend an olive branch to Mafokate .

"Mafokate is one of the celebrated young icons and young generation that started a kwaito genre which forms part of our culture in the ANC and in the country. The ANC can only denounce the incorrigible and he is not incorrigible.

The fact that the ANC extended an invite to him demonstrated that we value him as a member. We want to allay his fears that no one would humiliate him."

Sunday World understands that Mafokate would not attend ANC Siyanqoba rally at Elllis Park stadium today.
