Choreographer and actor Mbuso Kgarebe does not know if he passed his matric exams .

Kgarebe, who plays the lead role on an upcoming local movie She is King, said by the time he wrote his final exams he was already working as a performer in the local entertainment industry.

Soweto-born Kgarebe, 31, started working on his craft at the age of 16.

"I wrote but I never collected my results, therefore I don't know if I made it or not. Besides, I was not in the country when the results were released," he said.

The dance star never cared about collecting his statement of results because he felt had already made it in the industry and did not need a matric certificate.

"I don't want to say matric is useless and offend academics as well as people who value it."

At 16 he was already owning his first car - a top-of-the-range Beemer at the time.

Kgarebe started performing as a member of a community theatre in Orange Farm, south of Jozi, where he grew up.

"I was scouted by a French production. I got a scholarship to study dance and theatre in France," he said.

He has been crisscrossing the world ever since, touring.

He's now targeting prime-time television, as actor.

In the movie She is King, Kgarebe plays a bad boy, Luyanda Radebe. The movie tells the story of a talented girl craving for stardom as a performer. She leaves her hometown in KZN to settle in Joburg in order to get a chance to audition for a stage musical show.

The movie boasts the cream of Mzansi stars including Khabonina Qubeka, Mandisa Nduna, Aubrey Poo, Gugu Zulu and Khanyi Mbau.
