The future of Munghana Lonene FM station manager Lawrence Ubisi and marketing manager Vongi Nkanyane is hanging by a thread.
Ubisi and Nkanyane were each slapped with final written warnings by SABC general manager in Limpopo Tshamano Makuya on Monday.
The two were found guilty of misleading the SABC about the budget for the annual Munghana Lonene Xitsonga Music Awards, which were held in Giyani early this year.
They were also found guilty of exceeding the awards budget by over R1.5-million without approval. The duo was also found guilty of failing to pay service providers, whom they appointed without following due process.
SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago declined to comment, save to say: "We don't discuss internal matters with the media."
A senior SABC employee who didn't want to be named said the two were found guilty of dishonesty after they deliberately misled Makuya about the budget for the awards.

A senior SABC employee who didn't want to be named said the two were found guilty of dishonesty after they deliberately misled Makuya about the budget for the awards.
"They told her that they received R1.5-million from sponsors and would stick to the budget. But they ballooned the expenses to well over R3-million ... they hired the services of certain service providers and failed to pay them their monies.
"Also, what is interesting is that many of these service providers were appointed without order numbers," the employee said.
The employee added the conduct of Ubisi and Nkanyane was brought to the fore by a businessman whom they failed to pay. "Makuya asked our forensic department to investigate the allegations and it uncovered all this mess."
The employee said Makuya wanted to fire Ubisi but changed her mind after he submitted a plethora of heart-rending mitigating factors.
"Now the question is, where is the station going to find money to pay the service providers because SABC is bankrupt?
"I think they were extremely reckless and irresponsible," he said.
