Kwasa king Malo-A-Botsheba was prematurely discharged from the Tzaneen Mediclinic after he ran out of funds to pay for his soaring medical bill.
Malo-A-Botsheba, who is now at home with leg, stomach and chest pains, may be consigned to a government hospital if he does not get well soon.
The ANC Limpopo chief campaigner is now appealing to his "political principals" for help to pay his medical bill - which is more than R23000 - so he can return to the private clinic for further treatment.
Malo-A-Botsheba, real name Steve Sefofa, was admitted to the clinic last Friday after falling sick at his Motlhabaneng home in Bolobedu, outside Tzaneen. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and constipation.
The artist confirmed that he was at home after he left the clinic because he could no longer afford to pay his medical bill.
"I paid a deposit of R7000 upon my admission because I don't have medical aid, but the bill started going up. I realised that if I continued my stay there, I wouldn't be able to afford it and would end up blacklisted.
"I told my doctor that I was fine so he could discharge me, and he did," Sefofa said.
He, however, said he was still feeling pain in his legs, stomach and chest and also suffers from severe constipation.
"I'm really in pain and think I will die. Sometimes it's difficult to relieve myself despite the medication they gave me for the constipation," he said.
The musician, who has composed songs praising ANC president Jacob Zuma, Mpumalanga premier David Mabuza and Limpopo's Stan Mathabatha, among others, said he would go back to the clinic if a good Samaritan could settle his bill.
"People think I have money because they see me driving around in cars.
"I'm swimming in debt. If my comrades could help, I would appreciate it," he added.
Sefofa's doctor, Mabake Maowasha, confirmed that the singer was discharged from the clinic. Medi Clinic could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press.
