Songstress Lungi Naidoo has been the latest victim of a hijacking.

Naidoo's sister, cousin and brother-in-law were robbed outside her home in the south of Joburg on Thursday evening.

The perpetrators were driving a white Polo Vivo and got away within five minutes.

Luggage, sneakers on their feet, jackets, ID books and Naidoo's sister's engagement ring were all taken.

"My sister begged one of the attackers to only give back her ID book and he threatened to shoot her. We are all still traumatised at this point," said Naidoo.

The Chevrolet Aveo Naidoo's brother-in-law was driving was not stolen, but the robbers took the keys. "We found the keys in the street the next day."

They were on their way from the airport.

"I was in hospital two nights ago and my sister came down from KZN to check on me, I did not imagine that this would happen as soon as they arrived," said Naidoo.

The housing estate rules are that residents must be called on their cellphone to let visitors in.

"The security guard buzzed me and all I heard him say was 'open just open' and he dropped the phone," said Naidoo.

"I found this very concerning as he would normally follow procedure and ask me the relevant questions. Confused, I dropped everything and ran to the entrance."

When Naidoo arrived at the entrance she saw that her family members, along with the security guard, were all in complete shock.

"My cousin was visiting me for the first time, I am so sad that this had to happen to her now. I learnt that the security guard dropped the phone because they also had a gun to his head."

The case has been reported to Mondeor police station and no arrests have been made.

"A case of armed robbery was opened on Thursday evening," SAPS spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini confirmed.
