Sello Maake is SA's highest paid actor – report

Actor Sello Maake Ka Ncube together with Jamie Bartlett and Moshidi Motshegwa are among the highest paid actors in South Africa, this is according to DRUM Magazine.

The magazine qoutes independent sources that the three actors each take home a pay cheque of between R100 000 and R120 000 per month.

According to the report the trio get paid that much because they are contracted to production companies which remunerate their workers very well.

Of these, Quizzical Pictures which produces Rhythm City, apparently has one of the best rates for highly experienced actors.

Compared to Generations which has 7,2 million viewers, Scandal! has 3,2 million and Rhythm City 2,5 million.

Sunday World reported this week that the Generations actors were earning an average of R32000 per month and not an average of R55000 per month as they claimed by Mfundi Vundla.

According to the South African Guild of Actors this is what soapie stars earn:

A newcomer on 7de Laan - R22,000 a month

A newcomer on Isibaya - R26,000 a month

An intermediate actor on Binnelanders - R27,500 a month

An intermediate actor on Isidingo - R28,000 a month

An intermediate actor on Generations - R40,000 a month

An experienced actor in a support role on Isibaya - R30,000 a month

An experienced actor on Isidingo - R40,000 a month

An experienced actor on Generations - R60,000 a month
