Sapo axing story 'got it all wrong'

IT was disappointing to read the article headlined, "Sapo executives face the axe", in the Sunday World of June 16. Allow me to correct the inaccuracies.

It is false that there is a link between the suspension of the head of human resources at the SA Post Office (Sapo) and my employment. I was a short-term contractor to Sapo.

Sapo has all the information about my contract and I was responsible for terminating my employment with them.

Second, the report that I was suspended by Ekurhuleni [metro] is false and malicious.

The correspondence between me and Ekurhuleni metro does not make reference to "corruption" or "maladministration". It cites "irregularities and non-compliance with the processes" related to an appointment of a service provider.

The city manager is responsible for approving the appointment of the service provider and I was not a member of the committees that ratified the service provider's appointment.

Third, it is false that I "was under a multi-million rand corruption probe". Ekurhuleni metro has, to date, 12 months after my contract was unilaterally terminated, not provided me with proof to support its allegations.

For the record, no criminal or civil charges have been brought against me.
