Hlubi is bad-ass

FORMER Isidingo actress Hlubi Mboya might have closed the small-screen door behind her but she's opened an even bigger one.

The petite stunner, who recently conquered Mount Kilimanjaro as part of a women empowerment initiative, has been quietly shooting a local movie called iNumber Number.

Mboya says she plays a character named Gugu, a gun-totting criminal specialising in heists.

In terms of the plot, something goes wrong during one of her brazen robberies.

"I was the only woman on set, which was crazy. But I loved it. I loved playing a bad-ass b*tch," she says.

The movie, shot in and around Jozi last November, is due out in August.

Some will recognise venues such as the Power Park in Soweto and Hartbeespoort Dam as some of the locations.

The movie is written and directed by Donovan Marsh.

Mboya adds that she has a few projects lined up, but Isidingo is not one of them, despite an online soapie teaser citing her return to the prime-time soapie.
