WEARABLE gadgets had tech-heads squealing with glee at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.

Gizmos included wristwatches for checking your texts, eyeglasses that capture video and "4K" ultrahigh-definition TVs.

At the show, the world's leading tech companies showcase gadgets they hope consumers around the world will hanker after in the coming months and years.

But with the massive flooding of smartphones and tablets - and given the clumsy designs, high prices and technological constraints of many of the current offerings - it seems the gloomy predictions of a falling market that kicked off the expo could be a reality.

Despite that, there were some functional and fun gadgets that didn't look too crude or gawkish.
