'Amakhosi line-up is predictable'

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi believes Amakhosi's Carling Black Label Cup line-up is "good" but not "balanced".

Nkosi is interested in seeing how they combine in their Soweto derby clash against Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium tomorrow (3.30pm).

"It's a very predictable line up if you think of it. Still, it's a good line-up because it's the tried and tested, but without [the injured] Siphiwe Tshabalala, it's not balanced," said the retired 35-year-old yesterday.

"Shabba was playing in the number 10 role in the past season and since he's out, you put [Hendrick] Ekstein there.

Khune keen to end Chiefs' barren spellKaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune says it's high time the players step up and make their supporters happy.

"So that leaves George Lebese as the only winger and they said they went for a 4-4-2 formation, but it does not balance. You don't want to have Ekstein on the wing," Nkosi insisted.

"With this line-up, the most sensible formation would be a 4-3-3, looking at the players they have. I don't know how they are going to shape up, but that's up to coach Steve [Komphela] and the champion coach [Manthulane Aphane] to decide."

The other interesting thing for Nkosi was seeing Chiefs supporters pick pretty much the same eleven that Komphela used in the past season. Nkosi thought the fans didn't agree with Komphela's selections, but the line-up proved otherwise.

"The funny thing is fans always complain but when they get an opportunity to choose the line-up, they choose what the coaches usually choose. So for me there are no surprises. At the end of the day, it just goes to show that coaches should be given the chance to do their jobs without interference," Nkosi added.
