Bafana Bafana's new call-up Aubrey Ngoma has been impressed with the commitment shown by his teammates ahead of the clash against Nigeria on Saturday (6pm SA time).

"It's my first time with the national team and it's been good. The guys have shown a lot of commitment towards the coach's instructions," said the 27-year-old Cape Town City star ahead of Bafana Bafana's departure yesterday for Saturday's fixture at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

"I think the last couple of days went well with the training sessions and everyone gave their all. We are looking forward to the game."

Bafana have never beaten Nigeria in an official match since they were readmitted to international football in 1992.

But the Hammanskraal-born midfielder insisted that they stand a chance even away from home.

"Nigeria have been our hoodoo team but we've been preparing well," said Ngoma.

"We've been watching their games [on video]. They have called up new faces. I think they are looking to rebuild.

"We've got the experience in the team currently and I think we are in good shape to give them a run for their money."

Ngoma was one of the Absa Premiership's standout players this season.

He finished the campaign with 35 appearances, seven goals and 16 assists.

He's hoping he can transfer that form to the national team if given an opportunity to make his debut against the Super Eagles.

"If I do get a chance, I'm hoping to take it with both hands," Ngoma added.

Forward Kermit Erasmus sat out yesterday's training owing to a stomach bug, but the rest of the national team was involved.

Bafana Bafana will have two training sessions in Nigeria, including one at the match venue.
