Boxing trainer Colin "Nomakanjani" Nathan says he is exhilarated yet humbled to have been recognised by the World Boxing Council (WBC).

Nathan was reacting to the invite to host a training seminar for boxing trainers in Shanghai, China, next week.

Nathan, 39, will be in the Asian country for five days.

He has produced seven world champions, six South African champs, nine African titlists and seven international champions since 2001.

"I am humbled by this assignment which is a major recognition for me by the WBC," said Nathan, who will leave for China on Wednesday.

The WBC is one of the major four sanctioning bodies alongside World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Organisation.

"I am gonna be hosting a training seminar for boxing trainers - the taping of hands and various training methods," explained Nathan, who doubles as a SABC boxing commentator.

Nathan did his apprenticeship under the guidance of American Hall of Famer, trainer Freddie Roach, who is regarded as one of the best boxing trainers of all time.

Roach, a former professional boxer, has guided many fighters, including legend Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, to become the only eight-division world champion in history.
