Warning shot for champs

Koos "The Great Last Warrior" Sibiya and Ronald "King" Malindi will be out to send a message of intent to the national champions in their respective divisions with their performances on Friday night.

The pair will be facing unknown fighters in the bouts at Mahikeng Convention Centre, North West.

Sibiya will welcome Malawian Crispin Molliat in a 10-round bout in the lightweight class, while Malindi will entertain Lihle Gingxana over the same number of rounds but in the bantamweight division.

Sibiya said: "My approach to this fight is simple - get back to winning ways. Victory is guaranteed on Friday.

"I want to send a strong message to SA champion Phila Mpontshana, who has been calling my name on social media."

Malindi said: "I have been [working] hard in the gym since my last fight last month. Hopefully, SA champ Toto Helebe will watch closely because I am gunning for him."

Trainer Bernie Pailman is confident that his charges will emerge victorious.

"Look, without sounding arrogant, I know what my boxers are capable of and that is why I am prepared to put my head on the block and predict victories although we do know a thing about our opponents."

"My guys train hard and have always been fit. They come ready prepared to do damage and that is not going to change now."

Also on Friday, Moruti "Baby Face" Mthalane will face Ardin Diale of the Philippines for the vacant IBF International flyweight belt.

Their bouts will form part of TK Boxing Promotions bill which promoter Tshele Kometsi has dedicated to fallen political stalwart Oliver Tambo who would be turning 100 on Friday.
