A busy boxing weekend night

Fight fans will be treated to a feast of boxing with three world championship tournaments all taking place tonight.

Xaba Promotions stages a nine-bout card in Ekurhuleni, at Kempton Park Indoor Centre .

Topping the bill of promoter Ayanda Matiti will be reigning IBO junior bantamweight holder Gideon Buthelezi against Mexican Angel Aviles. The main supporting bout pits Alfonzo Tissen and Xolani Mvubu in a battle for a vacant ABU middleweight belt.

Action from this box-and-dine tournament begins at 6pm.

Then, at the South Coast Casino in Durban, Steve Kalakoda will stage two vacant ABU bouts. Anelisa Gungqisa and Angolan Cristiano Ndombassy will fight for the welterweight strap, while Ruann Visser will meet Tanzanian Ashraf Suleiman for the heavyweight belt.

At OR Tambo Hall in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, Dream Team of Lebo Mahoko will stage dual WBF fights with Mzuvukile Magwaca welcoming Jason Canoy from the Philippines for a vacant bantamweight strap, while Bukiwe Nonina will face Alesia Graf from Germany for the WBF female bantamweight title.

Former IBF heavyweight champion Francois Botha and Uwe Hueck will have an eight-round bout to raise funds for five local gyms in Khayelitsha.
