Explosive and showy boxing prospect Ludumo "9mm" Lamati returns to East London on Sunday hoping to continue where he left off in April when he sensationally knocked out Luthando Mbumbulwana in two rounds.

Lamati will meet Lemogang Mapitsi over eight rounds at the Mdantsane Indoor Centre.

The 24-year-old former three-time amateur bantamweight champion from Mdantsane - who is guided by trainer Sean Smith - will be aiming at cementing his No 1 spot in the junior featherweight division. Lamati is the mandatory challenger to SA champion Bongani "Wonderboy" Mahlangu.

Sunday's bout will headline a tournament that will be staged by Rumble Africa Promotions of Thembalethu "Tarries" Ntuthu.

Lamati is yet to lose after nine fights since he turned professional in 2014.

Mapitsi stopped Vusumzi Nyawuza in the third round at Blairgowrie Recreation Centre in Johannesburg in July. That was Mapitsi's first knockout win.

In an attempt to revive the career of Siphosethu Mvula, a former SA junior bantamweight champion, Ntuthu has matched him with unknown Thizwilondi Nepandoni in a featherweight six-rounder.

Mvula failed in his two attempts to win the WBF junior bantam- weight and interim WBA Pan African junior featherweight belts.

Undefeated rookie Phumelele Sobahle will take on Sibusiso Khumalo in the featherweight division over six rounds.Khumalo is a fading veteran from Gauteng who has not registered a win since 2012.

There will be two more bouts.

Action is scheduled to start at 2pm.
