Athletics South Africa (ASA) president Aleck Skhosana expressed confidence of a positive ruling in the case involving Caster Semenya ahead of judgment being handed down in a few days' time.

ASA was an applicant in the hearing at the Court of Arbitration last month against the IAAF in their attempts to change the rules that would require Semenya, 28, to reduce her levels of testosterone.

The ruling is expected to be made between tomorrow and next Tuesday after weeks of deliberations.

"As an applicant, we are waiting for the outcome in the matter," Skhosana said.

"We had five days of presentations from the IAAF, ASA and Caster, and we expect an outcome from the panel of judges anytime from March 21 to the 26th.

"We presented our case with our scientist from SA and others from around the world were supporting us."

Skhosana was speaking yesterday at the announcement of Sizwe Medical Fund and 3SixtyLife and the new sponsors of the Senior Track and Field Combined Events Championships from April 25-27 at the Germiston Athletics Stadium.

Athletics in the country received another boost as Twizza - a soft drink company - were also confirmed as the new title sponsor for the Under-18 and Under-20 Track and Field Championships taking place at the Dal Josaphat Stadium, Paarl from March 28-30.

Last year, ASA had roped in Liquid Telecoms to sponsor their Athletic Grand Prix Series but the deal has since been revoked after the company ran into financial trouble.

The transformation under Skhosana, since his election in 2014, has been a breath of fresh air from the scandal-ridden tenures of Leonard Chuene and James Evans.

"It was upon all of us to turn the bad image around and make athletics appeal to the athletes and corporates," he said.
