Former South Africa batsman Richard Levi was hospitalised after being hit on the helmet during a county championship match in Northampton on Sunday.

Levi was 28 not out in Northamptonshire’s second innings when he was felled by a delivery from Worcestershire medium pacer Josh Tongue.

Levi was treated on the pitch before the decision was made to take him to hospital‚ which promoted a suspension in play for an early lunch.

Northants said on social media Levi had been hospitalised “as a precaution”.
