Sundowns confirm signing of Algerian defender Hachi

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has boosted his squad by capturing highly rated Algerian left-back Fares Hachi from ES Setif on a four-year contract‚ with the option to renew for one year.

TMG Digital exclusively revealed two weeks ago that the 26-year old Hachi was training with the Brazilians at their mini-training camp in Rustenburg and the news of his signing shows that he has done enough to convince Mosimane to give him a long-term contract.

“We like him‚ we like the player and what is important is that he also wants to play here in South Africa and wants to play Caf football‚” said Mosimane.

Hachi has been registered with the PSL and he has been included in the Sundowns travelling squad for the Absa Premiership match against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Wednesday night.

Hachi‚ who featured for Setif when the Algerian side played against Sundowns during the CAF Champions League‚ was identified when the Mosimane and his technical team analysed their opponents.

He has been training with the Brazilians through the mid-season camp where he showed confidence on the ball with Mosimane saying that the technical team was happy with what he can bring to the club.

The Algerian played most of his football in the lower leagues in France before returning to his native country and has become the first player from the North African country to play for the Brazilians.

Meanwhile‚ Sundowns also confirmed that midfielder Anthony Laffor has signed a two year contract renewal together with goalkeeper Denis Onyango who signed a four year contract extension.
