Polokwane City coach pushes employers to sign Belgian trialist

Polokwane City coach Luc Eymael is hoping to get the go-head from club chairman Johnny Mogaladi to sign Belgian forward Christophe Martín-Suárez on Thursday.

The 26-year-old has been on trial at the Limpopo club for the last few weeks and Eymael wants to bring him on board‚ having told Times Media Digital he wants to buy a tall striker and a versatile midfielder before the start of the new season.

City play a friendly match against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday and Eymael revealed that he will meet with the club’s top-brass on Thursday and push for Martín-Suárez to be signed.

“He is a very good player‚ a very technical player‚” Eymael says.

“He comes from the second division in Belgium‚ which is not like the second division here in South Africa.

“He has done very well‚ the only thing he has struggled with are the pitches we have trained and played on while he has been with us. These are like sixth or seventh league pitches in Belgium.

“But I will talk to the chairman and hopefully we can sign him. He will give us a lot.”

Martín-Suárez scored four goals in 23 appearances for KSV Roeselare in the Belgian second-tier last season.

Meanwhile‚ Eymael is also still assessing Malawi international forward Muhammad Sulumba‚ who was on the books of Jomo Cosmos last season but did not play.

City also have forward Puleng Tlolane‚ Thobani Mncwango and recently signed Rodney Ramagalela.

The club have also completed the signing of former Platinum Stars defender Thabiso Semenya‚ who Eymael says could be used either at right-back or as a centre-back. - TMG Digital
