Discussions with Surprise Moriri over an extension to his contract are still continuing with no immediate solution‚ Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane said.

“Surprise is still negotiating for his contract. He’s a legend‚ we love him. He is 36‚ he still wants to contribute. He didn’t have much game time for us (last season).

"But you know what … Surprise is a legend. It has to do with the finance … it has to do with game time … how long is the contract? ... how many games can he play next season?”

The Sundowns boss suggested that Moriri’s chances might be limited.

“We now have Vila (Sibusiso Vilakazi) as a number 10 and Khama (Billiat) is playing 10. Totso Ngele couldn’t get game time at number 10 and Surprise is also a number 10. So it’s a bit difficult.

"We also have a new number 0 arriving but we’ll talk about that later‚” Mosimane added cryptically.

Last season Moriri played just nine minutes of football for Sundowns‚ coming on twice as a late substitute in league games for the champions.

Moriri has won four league titles with Sundowns and gained 36 caps for South Africa.

He made his Premier Soccer League debut for Silver Stars 14 years ago and has been at Sundowns for the past 12 seasons.
