Former Springbok captain Gary Teichmann will take over from John Smit as the Sharks chief executive officer‚ the union confirmed on Wednesday.

Teichmann‚ 49‚ has established himself as a successful businessman in the Durban area since retiring from rugby.

He played 42 Tests for the Springboks between 1995-1999.

He will start his new post in October when Smit‚ who was appointed in 2013‚ steps down.
