Former Pirates star Ian Palmer undergoes kidney transplant

Former Orlando Pirates striker Ian Palmer has been admitted into hospital and will have a kidney transplant on Wednesday.

Palmer's younger brother‚ Selwyn‚ donated the kidney to his distressed sibling and the former Bucs star said he could not find words to express his gratitude.

"I was at a loss for words when he said he would do it‚" Palmer said.

An emotional Palmer‚ who is now a coach‚ said he has struggled to work since the kidney ailment worsened and has not coached another side since parting pays with lower tier club Milano.

The 50 year old Palmer said he hopes his brother's generous donation will enable him to return to the bench once he has recovered.
