Katlego Mashego has vowed to bounce back stronger despite leaving Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of this month.

Mahoota, 34, insisted yesterday that age was the least of his worries as he plans to make an impact elsewhere in the new season.

"[Zlatan] Ibrahimovic is 34 and Manchester United want to sign him. That thing [football talent] can't leave you; it is there for you. Obviously, you can't be the same person you were when you were 20," Mashego said.

"Dani Alves is 33 and he is going to Juventus," he insisted.

Newly promoted Highlands Park are reportedly keen to sign the Bushbuckridge-born striker. Mashego, however, is not entertaining the rumour at this stage.

"I still have to sit down with my manager [Tim Sukazi] to map the way forward, because now I'm in off season. My mind is somewhere else and I'm not thinking of my next move. I had a brilliant time at Sundowns and I was winning trophies almost all the time I was there.

"Now I just want to go somewhere else and try something new," said Mashego, who joined Sundowns in 2013.

Mashego, who won two league titles with the Brazilians, said through his football legacy foundation, he will be giving back to his community through different projects that he is working on.

"I'm going back to my home town Bushbuckridge (Mpumalanga) to help and that's what I'm busy with at the moment. After that, I will take a bit of time out, switch my phone off and reflect. I will try to freshen up and come back stronger."

In the past years, Mashego has spent time with sick kids at Mapulaneng Hospital in his hometown and donated soccer kits to local schools.
